What time is the Marketplace open?
The Marketplace is an outdoor pedestrian mall, and each establishment sets its own hours. That said, most stores are open between 10 am and 7 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am - 5 pm on Sundays. Most restaurants are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.
Operating hours are usually extended during the month of December.
Businesses usually close on national holidays, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

Who runs the Marketplace?
The Church Street Marketplace is a department of the City of Burlington and is integrated into the Department of Business and Workforce Development. The Marketplace has a Director and an oversite body called the Church Street Marketplace Commission.

Does the Church Street Marketplace offer a gift card for the street?
Unfortunately, there is not a street-wide gift card available. However, many of the restaurants and shops on the Marketplace offer gift cards.

How do I entertain on the Marketplace?
Apply to entertain on the Church Street Marketplace online here. All applications are submitted online, and there are no in-person auditions. You will need to upload a video of your act, so be prepared with that. There is a fee for performers over 18 years old to cover the cost of a background check before issuing a license.
I want to host an event or pop-up on Marketplace. What should I do?
You can apply to host an event or pop-up activation on the Marketplace by filling out our online application form here. If you’d like to speak with the Marketplace team to discuss your event idea or ask questions before applying, please contact Andrew, the Marketplace Coordinator, by emailing abacher@burlingtonvt.gov.
How do I get my banner to hang on the Church Street Marketplace?
We rent intersection banner and light pole banner space in 2-week intervals. You can read more about this program in our Brand Deck and reach out to Andrew, the Marketplace Coordinator, to book your banner placement by emailing abacher@burlingtonvt.gov.
When is the Christmas Tree lighting this year?
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting will occur on Friday, November 29th, 2024.
I am an employee on the Marketplace, how can I get free employee parking?
Marketplace service employees can park for free at the Downtown Garage! Talk to your manager about registering for free parking. They can get you set up!
I made an order with you, and I would like to cancel. How do I do that?
The Church Street Marketplace Department does not offer goods or services for online sale. Visit Marketplace businesses' websites directly to purchase from them. Advertising through third-party websites (Facebook, Amazon, etc.) offering a direct sale from the Marketplace Department is not legitimate. Please report any transactions made through these websites to the Marketplace Department.
Are dogs allowed on the Marketplace?
Yes, the Marketplace is dog-friendly and welcomes many four-legged friends to the street each day! Dogs are always allowed to walk outside on the pedestrian mall, and many of our establishments allow them inside as well. Please kindly ask an employee if dogs are permitted to enter the space.
